I
figured if Jacob Jepson was any kind of a big shot Harry Avalon would
know of him. But Harry had never heard of him nor International
Investments nor the Davidson Development Corporation.
"I'll do some research and call you in the morning," he said. "By the
way, what's all this about? What are you up to?"
"I'm dabbling in real estate," I said.
"What?" I could see his perturbed face through the telephone line. "You
just wait for my call." His words were followed by a click and dial
tone.
If you know me you know there is one thing I can't do and that's wait.
"James," I said. "I think we should have a look at Jepson's property.
Perhaps we can learn a few things for ourselves."
"Perhaps, sir."
"Good. Put on your Wellingtons. La campagne is
calling."
