The
drive home was quiet and tedious. Al parked the transporter
in front of the barn and took the horses to the stables. Nick
walked quietly into his house without saying goodbye.
"Sir," James said. He was in the groom's area of the
transporter.
"What is it, James?"
"I think you should see this." He reached under one of the
saddles and pulled out a pistol.
"What is it?"
"It's a pellet gun, sir."
"A pellet gun? I wonder what that's doing here?"
“Perhaps to scare off varmint.”
“Perhaps.”
